Advocacy and Networking

Sickle cell Association of Uganda has achieved success in the past years through its Advocacy and Networking Strategy. With this programme it enabled SAU to strengthen her networking with stakeholders and development partners.

This intended to increase access and utilisation of the Sickle cell Association services.

This also strengthens the Association’s role and contribution to policy review and formulation.

At community level advocacy has created awareness on available Sickle cell services, referral points, counselling, importance of Sickle cell testing and follow up.

Sickle cell Association of Uganda has joined Voices for Health Rights Coalition  (VHR), Health Workforce Advocacy Forum Coalition (HWAF), National Union of Disabled Persons In Uganda (NUDIPU) and the International Alliance of Patients Organisations (IAPO).

Sickle cell Association of Uganda, through its Advocacy Strategy, managed to lobby for the construction of a new Sickle cell Clinic at Mulago Hospital, the leading referral hospital in Uganda.
